More than just jumping around!

Ahh....that's how we feel after class.  Because it is not just jumping around - stretching and toning, in addition to cardio, is IMPERATIVE to a healthy body!  I just got a call from someone who saw my sign outside of Willis Tucker Park and "has been looking for something like this".  I hear that over and over again of people who love to dance and want it to be the way they exercise.

So, a good friend asked - is this successful?  Well, is having 1,000 students the only gauge of success?  I think NOT!  The few that we have SO FAR, love it!  We are enjoying our exercise time together and I, personally am losing inches.  My jeans are not tight anymore and I only do this 2 times a week for 3 1/2 weeks now!  Do I also watch what I eat?  A little - I do have water of my choice of beverage and love fruits and vegetables but still eat normally.  Now, I have always eaten healthy so adding an exercise class that is Fun and "busts my butt" is the next thing I needed to get over the plateau.

You know....you just got to try it!  Dance Pulse.info BABY!!

WAY over here in I-O-Way!!

5-6-7-8...this is so fun teaching choreography to experienced dancers!  However, we also have less experienced dancers in this musical in Iowa.  Everyone is getting a workout and we laugh, build our muscles, exercise our memory skills and use our body in a variety of maneuvers that may feel achy at first.  That is only temporary as that is the way to a stronger body!  The musical is called "Come Home to Kanesville" which is about a young girl and young gentleman that fall in love.  She is counseled to go with her family west with the members of the Church of Latter Day Saints.  The musical is moving, spiritual and heartwarming.  I get goosebumps just recalling its message.  I am adding a piece to this play with choreography which weaves itself into a story that influences for the ages.  Come back soon when its all finished and I'll update you!

Ahhhh.......

BIG SIGH......I finished my last 'gig' for the year and already have several schools lined up next school year!  I taught hula, which is one of my lessons in my "World Cultures Through Dance" unit to an elementary school.  I am officially done for the year.  This summer I sharpen my choreography/dance skills as I go to Iowa to choreograph for a musical.  I will still teach Dance Pulse and am looking for more "homes" for my classes.  I can already feel that momentum and am glad that people are seeing the benefits that I also see in dancing as exercise!  I love being in business for myself!  Unlike a big company I can make changes as needed and quickly!  Plus, when I go with my gut feelings/instincts I can actually go with it instead of trying to convince someone of my ideas.  That is good and bad...but primarily good so far.  Have a great summer and I'll blog again in a few weeks.  Until then, please keep dancing as a way of relief and enjoyment!

Don't miss THIS!!

Tired of step aerobics, cycling, lifting weights, treadmill in front of a boring wall?   You do NOT want to miss the premiere of Dance Pulse exercise.  Something I concocted myself  because I KNOW the benefits of dance to the body, mind and soul.  See www.dancePulse.info for the details.  But, come check it out this Saturday...that is allllll  I am thinking about because it is going to be a great class and fun celebration!

Another Successful week of dance!

Just finished teaching my swing unit to the 7th and 8th graders at Valley View Middle School in Snohomish, Washington!!  I had boys and girls saying how much fun they had.  But, the best part for me and the teachers was when we ask the "gentlemen" to escort the "ladies" to the dance floor.  How gentle the boys become with the girls - such a sweet interaction that warms my heart. I will definitely need to add the teachers' comments on my testimonial section!   My goal is to make a difference with dance and I think my company is doing exactly that....I have always wanted to use my talent for good and I believe I finally found it!  Thanks to all who have supported me in this mission....I am off to another elementary school next week!!

New phase!

Today I taught my program to the very first school I ever taught!  What a joy to be back there and see their progress.  Some accomplishments:

1.  Returning students of the social dance unit actually looking forward to holding hands - cuz it meant dancing!!
2.  Kids sharing with the principal how anxious they were  to have dancing again!
3.  40 + kids showing up during lunch recess for a voluntary rehearsal to learn Hannah Montana's Hoedown Throwdown choreography!
4.  Included in the above kids were about 15 boys!!  YES!
5.  A boy who would NOT hold a girl's hand but then showed up outside the doors to watch the above Hannah Montana rehearsal.
6.  Little 2nd graders being even more creative than last year in their creative movement to music unit!
7.  Teachers who love their students and want to see them grow - dance with my program can help that!!!

Great day in this new phase!!

First BIG Step into Blogging

First entry....Got to ordering a logo for Dance Pulse@ exercise class.  The world premiere is going to be an exciting event held at Women's Wellness Center in Everett.  Giveaways, food and fun time of dancing for exercise.  I created this class because I missed using dance as a way to stay in shape.  I have taught aerobics, cardio funk and dance classes and feel BEST when I exercise via dance.  Want some fun exercise...we'll be "dancing" (easy choreography...promise!!) to Michael Jackson, Cotton Eyed Joe for some country and a ton of other styles...it'll be great!  Come in a pair and get a free gift for each of you!  See you there on May 16, Sat @ 8:30-10:30 am with the actual class starting at 9 am!!

Dance is freedom...get ready to let loose!
